Spike Driving Rules
 

There will be one round with three contestants for the round.  

Each contestant will be required to sign a waiver and must be of legal age or be a minimum of 16 years of age and have a parent or guardian sign the waiver. The Golden Spike Days Festival will supply eye protection and each contestant is required to wear the glasses to compete.
 
Each contestant will have three spikes set in pre-drilled holes on the rail tie. Two spikes will be for competition and the third spike will be a spare in case one becomes unusable. In each round, the contestant shall drive two spikes to level with the surface of the rail tie and the first person to complete this shall be named the winner of the round.
 
Each contestant will receive either a Certificate of Participation or a Winner's Certificate.
 
Each person who wishes may drive a practice spike on a practice rail tie and will have his or her choice of spike hammers.
